Welcome dear travel fans! I've been traveling around the world for 20 years and most of my trips were to Asia. I think I am crazy about Asia since I was a child and will be happy to share this passion with you...
Lake Tovel is an amazingly beautiful mountain lake rather popular among tourists. The lake became famous due to the fact that a few dozen years ago it used to take a deep red colour in summer months. But nowadays the lake has stopped changing the colour as a result of either global warming or the local farmers’ activities. Nevertheless it is still spectacularly beautiful. The first thing you should take into account before your trip is that you will hardly be able to find it without GPS. As for us we used GPS too and managed to find the lake quite easily.
You have to leave the car on the fee-paying parking space (5 euro per car) and in a few hundred metres you will find yourself near the most beautiful and unusually coloured lake located by the mountain road and along the rapid river. In some places the trees surrounding the lake seem to rise out of the water. Snowy mountain tops add beauty to the splendour of the Lake Tovel. By the way, despite the snow in the mountains and the location of the lake the temperature is quite high. Near the lake you can enjoy beautiful nature, have a good rest, or take a walk around the lake. But as for swimming it’s strongly forbidden. A week before the trip I came across an article on the Internet about the German tourists’ kid who was taken to the intensive care unit after swimming in the lake.
And here are some remarks. We didn’t have any problems on our way to the lake as we used the GPS. Frankly speaking, I am not sure we wouldn’t have found it without that system. Another remark is that it is forbidden to swim in the lake. I’m not trying to scare anyone but a week before the trip I came across an article on the Internet about the German tourists’ kid who was taken to the intensive care unit after swimming in the lake. You should take into account that most of the Alpine lakes are special ecosystems which cannot be accepted by our bodies.
