Table of Contents
Holiday Park
Holiday Park is a sprawling 94-acre park with a greenhouse, fun trails to explore, a playground for children, and a nature center that hosts programs for all ages. One of the park’s most fascinating features is “The Ruins,” a set of stone structures that, despite their name, are not actual ruins. It is an ideal spot for picnics, with plenty of areas to barbecue or relax on the grounds.
Lucas Oil Stadium
Lucas Oil Stadium is a must-visit whether you’re a Colts fan or not. This multi-purpose stadium hosts football games, concerts, and other events. It replaced the RCA Dome and even hosted Super Bowl 46 in 2012. Often referred to as “the house that Manning built,” the stadium is easy to navigate and offers plenty of food and shopping options inside.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum
One of the most iconic attractions in Indianapolis is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. This National Historic Landmark is a haven for racing enthusiasts. It showcases an impressive collection of vehicles used in races and unique memorabilia that chronicles the history of motorsport. A trip to the museum is incomplete without learning about the Indy 500, one of the most famous car races in the world.
Indianapolis experiences a humid continental climate, with four distinct seasons. Summers (June to August) are warm and humid, making it a great time for outdoor activities and events. Winters (December to February) can be cold with occasional snowfall. The best times to visit are during the spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) when the weather is mild and the city’s parks and gardens are in full bloom.
Indianapolis is well-connected and easy to navigate. Car rentals are a convenient way to explore the city and surrounding areas, with major rental companies available at the Indianapolis International Airport. IndyGo operates bus services throughout the city, providing an affordable way to get around. The Pacers Bikeshare program offers rentals for short trips, and many of the city’s attractions are located downtown, making it easy to explore on foot.
