Stockholm’s Christmas markets aren’t limited to city squares. You’ll also find festive stalls at historic estates, museums, on islands, and even in the royal stables. They’re great places to shop for handmade gifts, try Swedish sweets, and discover how Christmas is celebrated in Sweden.

Here are ten Christmas markets to explore in 2026. The season starts in November, and most markets are open on weekends.

Stockholm Christmas Markets 2026: Dates and Locations

Skansen: A Traditional Swedish Christmas

• Dates: November 27 – December 20, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
• Address: Djurgårdsslätten 49–51
• Opening hours: 10:00 AM–5:00 PM, Sundays until 4:00 PM

Skansen has been hosting Christmas markets since 1903. Among its historic houses and workshops, you’ll find stalls selling pottery, woollen clothing, candles, wooden toys, and food from local producers.

You can also see how Swedes celebrated Christmas in the past, listen to Christmas carols in the historic Seglora Church, and visit Santa’s workshop. A Skansen admission ticket is required.

Taxinge Slott: Christmas Gifts and Famous Cakes

• Dates: November 13–15 and 19–22
• Address: Taxinge-Näsby Slott, Nykvarn
• Admission: SEK 100–120; free for children under 12 accompanied by an adult

Taxinge Castle, about 60 km from Stockholm, hosts a large Christmas fair with more than 100 artisans. Stalls sell jewellery, wooden crafts, clothing, home textiles, and products from Swedish farms.

After shopping, stop by the castle café. Taxinge is nicknamed the “Cake Castle” thanks to its huge selection of cakes and pastries.

Kungsträdgården: Something Different for Christmas Gifts

• Date: November 28
• Location: Kungsträdgården, central Stockholm
• Opening hours: 11:00 AM–4:00 PM

This one-day market is run by young entrepreneurs. Students taking part in the Ung Företagsamhet (Young Enterprise) programme sell products they’ve created themselves.

The selection goes beyond what you’d normally find at a Christmas market, with designer accessories, handmade jewellery, small home décor items, sweets, and practical household products.

Hovstallet: A Christmas Market in the Royal Stables

• Dates: December 4–6
• Address: Väpnargatan 1
• Admission: SEK 120; free for children under 12 accompanied by an adult

For three days, the Royal Stables in Östermalm welcome Swedish craftspeople selling leather goods, pottery, jewellery, textiles, and festive treats.

The setting is worth seeing too. The market takes place in historic buildings connected to the Swedish royal court and its carriages.

Gamla Stan: Christmas Market at Stortorget

• 2026 dates: Not yet confirmed
• Location: Stortorget Square, Gamla Stan (Old Town)

The red wooden stalls at Stortorget have long been one of the best-known sights of Christmas in Stockholm. The market dates back to 1837.

Traditionally, you’ll find Swedish handicrafts, Christmas decorations, sweets, sausages, and hot glögg, Sweden’s version of mulled wine. The square is small, surrounded by the colourful historic buildings of Gamla Stan.

It’s still unclear whether the market will take place in 2026 due to event safety requirements. Official dates have not been announced.

Bondens Egen Marknad: Swedish Food for Christmas

• Dates: November 28, December 5, 12 and 19 in Södermalm; December 5, 12 and 19 in Östermalm

At this farmers’ market, you can buy directly from local producers. There are homemade cheeses, honey, bread, smoked fish, cured meats, jams, and seasonal vegetables.

Both markets are held in residential neighbourhoods, giving you a chance to try the foods Stockholm locals buy for their Christmas tables.

Nördarnas Julmarknad: A Christmas Market for Geeks

• Dates: December 5–6
• Address: Solnahallen, Ankdammsgatan 46, Solna
• Opening hours: 11:00 AM–4:00 PM
• Admission: SEK 75; free for children under 7

This market is all about comics, anime, video games, and fantasy. Stalls sell character figurines, themed accessories, books, original illustrations, and cosplay items.

Plenty of independent artists and designers take part. It’s a fun place for pop culture fans and teenagers.

Wasa Julmarknad: Local Crafts at Odenplan

• Dates: November 28 and December 5
• Address: Odenplan, Vasastan
• Opening hours: 10:30 AM–4:30 PM

This is a small market with around 35 stalls selling locally made crafts, souvenirs, and sweets. Look for knitted items, candles, jewellery, and little handmade gifts.

Santa also visits from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM to meet the children.

Skeppsholmsgården: A Craft Market by the Water

• Dates: December 12–13
• Address: Slupskjulsvägen 14C, Skeppsholmen
• Opening hours: 11:00 AM–5:00 PM

On Skeppsholmen island, market stalls stand beside the docks and old maritime workshops. You’ll find metalwork, pottery, jewellery, knitted items, natural soaps, and sweets.

There are outdoor fires, hot drinks, and simple Swedish treats to enjoy. After visiting the market, you can walk along the waterfront and take a look at the boats moored nearby.

Schysst Jul: Sustainable Gifts and Social Causes

• Dates: December 5–6
• Address: ABF-huset, Sveavägen 41
• Opening hours: December 5, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM; December 6, 10:00 AM–3:00 PM
• Admission: Free

This market brings together small businesses and non-profit organisations that support sustainable production, fair trade, and social initiatives.

Stalls sell natural cosmetics, textiles, jewellery, handmade goods, and food products. The market takes place inside ABF-huset, close to Rådmansgatan metro station.
