Tivoli Gardens (Tivoli Have) is the crown jewel of Christmas markets, not just in Copenhagen but across Europe. This historic amusement park, one of the oldest in the world, is transformed into a winter wonderland adorned with thousands of twinkling lights, snow-covered roofs, and smoking chimneys. CNN ranks it among the world’s best Christmas markets.
At Tivoli, visitors can immerse themselves in a genuine Christmas atmosphere, complete with snow, Christmas trees, festive decorations, and the delightful aroma of cinnamon and traditional Danish pastries. The park boasts over 70,000 Christmas ornaments, and approximately 50 Christmas pavilions offer a wide array of holiday-themed goods.
A highlight is the large “Alpine Inn” located next to the Alpine Express, where guests can enjoy traditional winter beverages. Children can ride a special Santa Claus train, along with numerous carousels and attractions designed for the winter season.

For a classic Christmas market experience, Kongens Nytorv Christmas Market offers a nostalgic ambiance with beautiful decorations and wooden pavilions selling gifts and tasty treats.

H.C. Andersen Christmas Market (H.C. Andersen Julemarked)

This market offers a variety of children’s activities and numerous delightful pavilions selling food, drinks, and gifts, all named after the famous Danish fairy tale writer who created the original Little Mermaid.
As a tribute to H.C. Andersen, each pavilion is named after one of his children’s stories, featuring gifts and souvenirs. There are also several food pavilions offering traditional Danish sweets and delicacies.
On Wednesdays and Sundays from 13:00 to 16:00, Julemanden (Danish Santa Claus) receives children’s letters in a special house, making this market particularly appealing for families with young children.

This year, the RAW art and craft market will take place in Nørrebro, featuring unique and unconventional items you won’t find anywhere else. Numerous pavilions will offer ceramics, clothing, jewelry, household items, and much more.
RAW Market celebrates alternative crafts, design, and art with over 80 artisans and food makers filling Nørrebrohallen. Visitors can explore a variety of creative Christmas gifts, including upcycled lamps, handmade soaps, and one-of-a-kind jewelry.

During the Christmas season, the zoo features gift-making workshops, crafts, Santa Claus, reindeer, festive treats, and thousands of dazzling lights. Visitors can meet Santa in his house and enjoy rides on the zoo train, which has been temporarily transformed into a Christmas train.

Transportation and Getting Around
Metro — The easiest way to access the markets is by taking the metro. Most markets are situated in the city center, close to Kongens Nytorv station. From there, it’s just a 2-3 minute walk to the markets at Kongens Nytorv Square and in Nyhavn.
