It is known for its unique architecture, made up of thousands of small, conical-shaped buildings called “trulli,” which are made of stone and have distinctive white-washed walls and conical roofs made of stacked grey stones.

The origins of the trulli date back to the 14th century, when the Counts of Conversano granted the peasants the right to cultivate the land, but prohibited the construction of permanent dwellings. The solution was to build trulli, which could be quickly dismantled in case of inspection.

Today, Alberobello is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from all over the world who come to admire the unique architecture, wander the narrow streets, and explore the many shops and restaurants in the town.
