One of the sights of the city of Haifa is the Cable cars. It connects the beach Bat Galim and area Stele Maris which is at the top of the Mount Carmel.

The entire journey lasts about 4 minutes and costs 28 shekels in both ends (you can also order tickets in one direction, but it’s just for a few shekels cheaper).

Working hours:

In the summer: 09-00-20-00

In the winter: 10-00-18-00

From the top of Mount Carmel comes off a stunning view of the entire Haifa and Haifa Bay. There you can visit the Church of the Order of Carmelites.

The Order of Carmelites several times throughout history tried to place his residence here. But almost always it was not possible because of the opposition of the local authorities (the Arab and Ottoman). The current building was constructed in 1836.

Such aspiration of Carmelites and counteraction of local authorities is connected with proximity of this place to the cave of the Prophet Elijah. The cave is slightly above the bottom station of the Cable cars. According to legend, Prophet Elijah was hiding here from his persecutors. This place is holy to three religions.
