The most convenient option is to take a train to Ercolano Scavi station, where shuttle buses will take you to the park entrance. Alternatively, you can drive to the park and utilize the paid parking facilities. Shuttle buses operate from the parking area to the park entrance for a small fee.

• Footwear: Make sure to wear sturdy hiking boots or shoes with good traction, as the trails can be steep and covered in loose gravel.
• Clothing: Dress in layers and bring a hat, as the weather can change rapidly and the sun can be intense.

Best Time to Visit

To beat the heat and avoid large crowds, it’s best to plan your visit to Vesuvio National Park in the early morning or late afternoon. The midday sun can be intense, especially during the summer months. Also, keep in mind that the park closes at 19:00, so make sure you have enough time to explore all the main attractions.

Restrooms and Facilities

Restroom facilities within the park are limited. There are portable toilets available at the entry gate and near the summit, but they are quite basic. While there are no designated picnic areas, you can still purchase food and drinks near the base and summit.

Accessibility

The trails in the park can be challenging, as they have steep inclines and loose gravel. While pets are allowed, keep in mind that the hike may be difficult for them due to the terrain and heat.
