The park is named after the Roman poet Virgil, who was said to have lived in the area in the 1st century BC. In the park, there is a small cave called the Grotta di Virgilio (Virgil’s Cave), which is said to have been one of the poet’s favorite spots for meditation.

The park features several walking paths, picnic areas, and benches, making it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to relax and enjoy the scenery. There is also a children’s playground and a dog park.

In addition to its natural beauty, Parco Virgiliano also has several historical and cultural attractions, including the remains of a Roman cistern and the ruins of a 16th-century castle. The park is also home to the Torre del Faro (Lighthouse Tower), which was built in the early 20th century and provides stunning views of the bay.
