The site is open year-round, but the best time to visit is during the spring and summer months in the Southern Hemisphere (October to March) when the weather is milder. Cueva de las Manos is situated in the Santa Cruz Province of Argentina, within the Río Pinturas Canyon. The most commonly taken route to reach the site is from the town of Perito Moreno. From Perito Moreno, you can follow Route 40, which is the main highway that runs through Patagonia, before taking a side road that leads directly to the cave. Travelers from Buenos Aires can fly to the nearest major airport, Comodoro Rivadavia, and then drive to Perito Moreno. The drive takes approximately six hours.
