Expert Tips
Choose the season by island, not by country – Thailand has different climates in different regions. Phuket is dry from November to March, but Samui gets rain at the same time. Always check the forecast for the specific island, not for Thailand in general.
In high season – book everything in advance – From December to March, hotels, boats to Phi Phi and James Bond Island, elephant tours, and even good beach cafés are fully booked. Especially on Phuket, Krabi, and Samui – book at least 3–4 weeks ahead.
For elephant tours – choose only ethical sanctuaries – Riding, washing, or watching elephant shows is considered animal abuse. Safe and ethical places include Elephant Nature Park (Chiang Mai), Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, and Samui Elephant Haven.
Never drink tap water – even in 5★ hotels – It is technical water. Safe bottled drinking water is sold in 7-Eleven for 7–14 THB. It’s better to brush your teeth with bottled water too.
If you want a peaceful beach – don’t always choose famous islands – Phuket is busy, Samui is moderate, while Koh Yao Noi, Koh Lipe, and Koh Kood offer silence, crystal-clear water, and few tourists. They are often the real “paradise islands.”

Trip to Elephant Nature Park – rescued elephants, feeding, bathing in the river, and nature walks. Jungle atmosphere, mountain views.

Lunch at a riverside village café on the Ping River – northern Thai dishes (khao soi, sticky rice, vegetable curries).
14:00
Scenic drive to Doi Suthep mountain. Stop at Mon Tha Than viewpoint – waterfalls and an easy forest trail.
15:30
Doi Suthep hill – panoramic views of Chiang Mai, clouds, and tropical landscapes. Temple visit optional.
17:30
Return to the city. Walk along Nimmanhaemin Road – local cafés, art shops, evening outdoor coffee spots.
19:00
Chiang Mai Night Bazaar – evening market, street food, souvenirs, lantern atmosphere.

Boat trip: 4 Islands Tour (Chicken Island, Tub Island, Koh Poda). Crystal-clear water, sandy strips, reefs, snorkeling, limestone cliffs.

Picnic on Koh Poda – fresh fruits, rice, Thai snacks. Relaxation on a white beach with views of tall rocky islands.

Boat transfer to Railay Beach – accessible only by sea. Phra Nang Cave, beaches with vertical cliffs and longtail boats, swimming.

Return to Ao Nang. Walk along the seaside promenade. Golden sunset colors, cafés with sea view.

Dinner at Krua Thara or Lae Lay Grill – seafood with bay view.

Transfer to Khao Sok National Park (2 hours from Krabi or Phuket). Start of boat excursion on Cheow Lan Lake.

Boat journey – emerald water, karst cliffs, tropical rainforest. Photo spots and bird/monkey watching.

Lunch at a floating restaurant on the lake. Swimming or kayaking afterwards.

Jungle walk: trail to a viewpoint or Coral Cave (easy trek). Stalactite formations, tropical trees, nature sounds.

Rest at floating bungalows – wooden houses on the water. Calm, mountain scenery, swim directly from the deck.

Sunset on the lake – golden reflections, peaceful atmosphere, feeling of complete escape. Optional: night safari by boat.
