The market is celebrated for its wide array of traditional Slovak dishes and beverages. Visitors can savor famous lokše (potato pancakes), cigánska pečienka (roasted pork or chicken in a bun), and medovina (honey wine). Additionally, international treats and warming drinks like mulled wine and punch are available.

Every Thursday through Sunday, the Franciscan Square stage features a vibrant cultural program with performances by local artists, traditional Slovak music, and festive entertainment for all ages.

A notable aspect of 2025 is the focus on sustainability: visitors can pay with cards, enjoy food served on compostable plates, and use reusable cups. Recycling stations and trained staff will facilitate responsible waste management.

The traditional Old Town Christmas Market is situated on Hviezdoslav Square, just a short walk from the main market. With its intimate atmosphere, this market resembles a promenade boulevard, stretching along a pedestrian street.

Featuring a rich program and over 30 trading points, the market offers an abundance of traditional culinary delights, beverages, and a variety of souvenirs, Christmas gifts, and handicrafts.

A highlight of this market is the ice rink located right on the square. Skating amidst twinkling lights and festive pavilions creates a magical experience for both experienced skaters and beginners.

Medieval Market at Bratislava Castle

Perhaps the most unique of Bratislava’s Christmas markets, the Medieval Christmas Market at the castle has become a favorite among visitors. Unlike typical Christmas markets, it captures the medieval spirit with mulled wine and medieval renditions of popular Christmas songs.

Open only on weekends and organized by history enthusiasts, the market offers the chance to sample miniature medieval dishes, try archery, or hold an owl or falcon.

For 4 euros, visitors can mint their own coin, taste wines crafted from medieval recipes, or simply enjoy the ambiance by the fire.

From Vienna: Bratislava is just 45 minutes from Vienna airport. The Bratislava ticket for 18 euros covers ÖBB regional trains between Vienna and Bratislava. RegioJet and Flixbus also offer services (approximately 17.50 euros for a round-trip ticket).

By plane: Bratislava has its own airport, but flight options are limited.
