The Piglet
A lot of cities have places to fulfil your wishes. In Florence this function belongs to the bronze boar placed in the New Market’s lodge (Loggia del Mercato Nuovo). According to the legend, if you rub its snout you may be sure you will come back to Florence again. There is a lovely story by Hans Christian Andersen called The Bronze Pig. It’s not only about the pig but about the whole city of Florence and I highly recommend reading it.
The Piglet
We called our night walk around Florence “a search for the Piglet” but, frankly speaking, it wasn’t a difficult task to find it. When after a walk on Ponte Vecchio you make your way toward Piazza della Signoria and Loggia del Lanzi (that will be another story for another time) you will see the New Market’s lodge.

We continued our night walk around Florence and didn’t feel the lapse of the hours. So, we returned to the hotel to prepare for the next day trip to Tuscany.
