Castel Toblino has its origins in 201 AD, when it was initially established as a pagan temple dedicated to fairies. The “Epigrafe dei Tublinati,” an archaeological artifact from the 3rd century AD embedded in the castle’s portico, provides evidence of this early history. Over the centuries, the castle transformed and developed into a fortified structure under the influence of the Cles and Madruzzo families in the 16th century. Today, it stands as a testament to its storied past, with visible elements from its medieval and Renaissance transformations.

The architectural splendor of Castel Toblino is sure to captivate visitors. The castle can be accessed via a wooden drawbridge that leads to the entrance avenue. Surrounding the park and a portion of the castle is a crenellated wall with distinctive swallow-tailed merlons. The complex is dominated by an imposing 20-meter high cylindrical tower. On the left side of the tower, visitors will find a Baroque chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, which was built in 1688 by Gaudenzio Fortunato, Count of Wolkenstein.

Inside the castle, visitors will discover magnificent frescoes, some of which are attributed to the renowned painter Marcello Fogolino. The music hall, adorned with paintings of medieval musical instruments, is particularly impressive. Another highlight is the Wolkenstein Cellars, where Nosiola grapes are processed to make the famous Vino Santo Trentino.
