History and Design

Designed by architect Enrico Casiraghi in 1936, Parco Lambro was created to preserve the rural landscape of Lombardy. The park’s design includes elements such as the Lambro River, artificial hills, and formerly, two lakes which have now become scenic depressions in the terrain. Despite the devastation during World War II, restoration efforts in the 1950s and 60s revitalized the park, maintaining its pastoral charm.

Things to See and Do

Scenic Walks and Cycling

The park features a network of pathways that span approximately 4,000 meters, perfect for leisurely walks and cycling. The undulating terrain, created by the park’s three artificial hills, offers picturesque views and a peaceful environment away from the city’s hustle.

Historical Farmhouses (Cascine)

Parco Lambro houses several historic farmhouses:

  • Cascina San Gregorio Vecchio: A traditional farmhouse with a square courtyard, housing, and barns.
  • Cascina Mulino Torrette: Home to the Exodus Association, this restored mill features original paddle wheels and millstones.
  • Cascina Cassinetta San Gregorio and Cascina Biblioteca: Both serve community functions, with the latter supporting a disability community.
