“Vicky Cristina Barcelona”

lt all started with a film…

I’ve always wanted to write about the reasons why it was Barcelona that we chose for our first trip abroad.

Everything started with the film “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” by Woody Allen.

While watching the film I immediately felt the desire to visit Barcelona. I don’t think Penelope Cruz was the reason. I think the reason was a unique spirit of Barcelona Woody Allen managed to convey in his film.

I don’t know how he manages to do that but after the film I felt a desire to go to Barcelona like e.g. I wanted to go to Paris after the film “Midnight in Paris” though before that moment it hadn’t attracted me at all.

There were a few moments in the film that evoked a strong desire to feel Barcelona inside with its tourist attractions, buildings by Gaudi, night meals in restaurants and other exciting things.

Another powerful moment of the film is a soundtrack that organically integrated into the film and into the city itself. Good music often adds much spice to the film. But this is the case when it’s just impossible to imagine the film without that music.
