Before the trip to Lake Garda we devoted plenty of time to searching an appropriate hotel.
The Lake Garda hotels have their own peculiarities which I would like to highlight.
First of all, take into account what views a hotel, like any hotel located by the sea or lake, offers. Like most of the tourists, we were looking for a hotel with the lake view. One of the advantages of the hotel was its close proximity to all the places to visit including Sirmione, base of the Alps, Verona and Riva del Garda. Another advantage is its view on Lake Garda. It’s wonderful to step out on the balcony and enjoy nice smooth surface of the water in the morning and unforgettable breathtaking sunsets in the evening.

But frankly speaking, we spent there no more than ten minutes in the morning and half an hour in the evening. In cities like Torri del Benaco, Malcesine and many others the hotels with sea views are located right near the road. I cannot say that we found it very noisy and disturbing. But in any case you should take this fact into account if you are too sensitive to noises.

Also take into account that not all the hotels are located on the lake. There is a popular joke about a man who said, “I‘ve bought a summer cottage. It’s not very far from here, just a two-hour trip: a one-and-a-half-hour flight and then a dog sled trip.” When driving through the city we saw hotels located in beautiful forests not far from the lake and hotels located right near the petrol stations quite far from the lake. So, for all cases I recommend taking into account tourists’ reviews which are much more useful than any copywriters’ texts.
Just decide for yourself the following things: if you really need a room with the lake view, how far it could be, what objects you want to be near your hotel and what directions you will need more frequently. For example, for a good rest on the beach the town of Sirmione is more appropriate. But good beaches attract much more tourists. You can have a nice time in such places as the village of Torri del Benaco both on the beach and in bars and restaurants. You will probably find the place quiet and respectable but a little bit dull.
You should decide yourself what to do. After you answer all the questions start searching a hotel. I recommend searching in such towns as Sirmione, Lazise, Garda, Torri del Benaco, Malcesine and Brenzone.
