Suwa Taisha is a complex of four shrines located in Suwa City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. The Upper Main Shrine, also known as Kamisha, is one of the four shrines and is the most important shrine of the complex. It is believed to have been built in the 7th century, although the exact date is uncertain.

The shrine is dedicated to the god Takeminakata-no-Kami, who is said to have descended from the heavens to the Suwa region and is considered the protector of the Suwa area. The architecture of the shrine is a mix of Shinto and Buddhist styles, with the main hall being a designated national treasure of Japan.

Visitors to the shrine can take part in traditional rituals, such as purchasing and dedicating omamori (good luck charms) and ema (votive tablets) to the shrine. The shrine also holds several festivals throughout the year, including the Onbashira Festival, which is held every six years and involves transporting large logs down from the surrounding mountains to the shrine.

The shrine is surrounded by a picturesque forest, which is especially beautiful during the autumn season when the leaves change color. The shrine is also located near Lake Suwa, which is the largest lake in Nagano Prefecture and a popular destination for fishing and boating.
