Okunoshima is a small island located in the Seto Inland Sea of Japan, about 2 hours from Hiroshima. The island is also known as “Rabbit Island” because it is home to hundreds of friendly and tame rabbits that roam freely around the island.

In the past, Okunoshima was a top secret location where the Japanese government produced chemical weapons during World War II. Today, visitors can learn about the island’s dark history at the Poison Gas Museum, which exhibits photographs, documents, and other materials related to the production and use of chemical weapons.

Aside from the museum and the rabbits, Okunoshima is also a popular destination for hiking and cycling. The island has a number of walking trails that lead through forests and around the coast, as well as a cycling course that circles the island. The beaches are also popular for swimming and sunbathing during the summer months.
