Tips for Tourists

The following tips will help you get the most out of your visit to the Transitoire site:

  • Timing of visit: The best time to visit is at sunrise or sunset. This fantastic time of day enhances the beauty of the sculptures and surroundings.
  • Bring your camera: Whether you are a professional photographer or an amateur, don’t forget your camera. The picturesque scenery and works of art offer countless opportunities for great photos.
  • Wear comfortable clothing: The area is known for its scenic walks, so wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers. The weather can change quickly, especially in the countryside.
  • Prepare a picnic: Enjoy a picnic while surrounded by nature. There are many quiet places near the sculptures where you can sit and reflect on your experience.
  • Respect the environment: As with any natural site, it is important to leave no trace. Be respectful of the environment and take your trash with you.

Access

Access to the Transitoire site is part of the adventure. Located between the charming towns of Siena and Asciano, it is accessible by car or bicycle. Here are some tips for planning your trip:

  • By Car: From Siena, take the SR2 road in the direction of Asciano. Follow the signs for Leonina and look for the dirt road that leads to the Transitoire ruins. The last section of the road may be unpaved, so please use only if you are familiar with driving.
  • Public Transportation: Public transportation directly to the Transitoire ruins is limited, but you can take a bus to Asciano and rent a bicycle for the remaining distance.
  • Parking: There is parking along the road near Casa Bianca. It is recommended to park here so as not to tire yourself out on the uphill climb to the sculpture.
