The Torre del Mangia is a tall tower located next to the Palazzo Pubblico. It was built in the early 1300s and stands at over 330 feet tall.

Visitors can climb the tower to the top for stunning views of Siena and the surrounding countryside. The tower was originally used as a bell tower and to watch over the city.

Its name, “Mangia,” means “to eat” in Italian, and it is said that one of the tower’s keepers was so fond of eating that he earned the nickname “Mangia.”
