Nestled above the picturesque town of Ortisei, the Chiesa di San Giacomo is a stunning example of historical and architectural beauty in the heart of the Dolomites. This quaint church, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, offers a unique blend of spiritual tranquility and panoramic vistas. Here’s everything you need to know to plan your visit, including tips, highlights, and essential information.

Directions

The church is accessible via a scenic trail from the town of Ortisei. You can start your hike from the center of Ortisei or take a shorter route from the nearby village of San Giacomo. The hike from Ortisei typically takes about 1-2 hours, while the path from San Giacomo is a brief 10-minute walk.

For those relying on public transport, bus line 350 runs every 30 minutes from Ponte Gardena or Chiusa to Ortisei. From there, follow the “streda Sacun” and look for signs directing you to the church.
