Sections:
Old Port and Village Centre (Quai Lindbergh) The heart of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is the old port, originally built by prisoners in the 19th century. The harbor area features a pedestrian zone and charming streets with shops, galleries, and restaurants. It’s an ideal spot to start exploring while enjoying coffee by the harbor.
Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild This Renaissance-style villa, built by Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild in the early 20th century, is now a museum. It houses a collection of art, porcelain, and furniture, as well as nine exquisitely themed gardens.
Saint Hospice Chapel and Maritime Cemetery A historic pilgrimage site, this 11th-century chapel features a 10-meter bronze statue of the Virgin Mary. Nearby is the Belgian Military Cemetery, where the graves of World War I soldiers are located.
Lighthouse and Semaphore Tower Cap-Ferrat Lighthouse and Semaphore Tower add a touch of marine history. Though the lighthouse is not open for public visits, the surrounding views of the sea are worth the trip.
Santo Sospir Villa Known as the “Tattooed Villa” for its murals painted by Jean Cocteau, Santo Sospir Villa is a unique artistic landmark. Though currently closed for renovation, it remains a testament to Cocteau’s legacy in the area.
The five main beaches of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat are all public, though some have private sections with facilities and water sports rentals.
Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat can be easily reached by train, bus, or car. From Nice, take a short train ride to Beaulieu-sur-Mer, then either walk or catch a quick bus to the village. If driving, parking can be challenging and costs around €10 for four hours. Walking is the best way to explore, as most sites are nearby, and the scenic coastal paths offer breathtaking views.
