Access
By Train
The most convenient way to reach Mer de Glace is by train from Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. The trip takes about 30 minutes and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Once you arrive at the Montenvers station, you will need to take a short hike or an attractive cog train down to the glacier.
By Car
If coming by car, take the Route Blanche (Route Blanche, D1506) from Chamonix. There is a parking lot in Montenvers, but be aware that it fills up quickly during the tourist season.
Hiking
For the adventurous, a hiking trail from Chamonix to Montenvers is recommended. The hike usually takes 2-3 hours and is suitable for those in good physical condition.
