My name is Jena Hovor. I found myself in France in 2010 after graduating from journalism school, when I decided to take a short break before starting my career. What was supposed to be a three-month trip turned into my destiny and a lifelong passion. France captivated me with its incredible diversity: from the lavender fields of Provence to the majestic cliffs of Étretat, from the snow-capped peaks of the Alps to the sandy beaches of the French Riviera. Each region revealed a new facet of the French soul – the gastronomic abundance of Burgundy, the architectural heritage of Alsace, the wild beauty of Corsica, and the mysterious Brittany with its Celtic roots. Over 14 years, I've cycled more than 15,000 kilometers on French roads, explored all 13 metropolitan regions and overseas territories. I've created over 170 original routes, many of which pass through authentic villages and secret places known only to locals. I speak French, English, and Russian fluently, and have mastered the Provençal dialect. I still discover new corners of this amazing country every day. I am convinced that the real France lives not only in Paris and famous tourist spots, but also in small family wineries, local farmers' markets, and ancient castles hidden among vineyards.

Darcy Garden is one of Dijon’s most beloved green spaces, offering a blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and tranquil surroundings. Located in the heart of the city, this Neo-Renaissance garden is the perfect spot for a quiet respite, a little history, or a family-friendly place to relax. Here’s everything you need to know about visiting Darcy’s Garden, from what to see to practical tips for your visit.

What to See and Do in Darcy’s Garden

As you explore Darcy’s Garden, you’ll encounter key features that make it a must-see destination in Dijon:

Statue of a White Bear
One of the most iconic features of the garden is the statue of a white bear at the entrance. The statue, an original replica by François Pompon, was created by Henry Martinette in 1937 and has become a symbol of Dijon. The original sculpture is housed in the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, but the sculpture in Jardin Darcy continues to be an important landmark. It’s a great spot for a photo to capture the charm of the garden.

Monument to Henry Darcy
In the center of the garden stands a monument dedicated to Henry Darcy, with a bust and an inscription honoring his achievements as the chief engineer behind the water management work in Dijon. For anyone interested in engineering history, this is an essential stop to learn more about his contribution.

Fountains and Waterfalls
Darcy’s Garden features a beautiful fountain and waterfall, which are not only visually appealing but also highlight the garden’s historical connection to water engineering. The sound of flowing water adds to the tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal place for relaxation and quiet walks.

Playground for Children
Families will appreciate the designated playground in the garden, providing a safe space for children to play. Darcy Garden is a great destination for visitors with little ones, offering leisure for both adults and children.

Lush Greenery and Beautiful Landscaping
The vast grounds of the garden are filled with various trees and flowers, all carefully arranged on terraces with handrails and manicured lawns. Whether you’re an avid gardener or just someone who enjoys the beauty of nature, there’s much to admire. The garden layout also provides a comfortable place to take a leisurely walk or relax on a bench.
