Petřín Hill

Petřín is a 327 meter hill on the left bank of Vltava River in the center of Prague. One of the legends says that it’s the very place where the Princess Libuše foretold golden age and world’s fame of the city of Prague.

You can get to the top of the Petrin hill on foot or by a tram-like funicular. If you have got an active ticket on all public transport, e.g. a 24-hour ticket, the admission on the funicular is free of charge. The only problem with the funicular is a long queue, especially at weekends.

There is also a nice green park on top of the hill where you can have a good time and eat tasty ice-cream. You will also enjoy magnificent view from the Petrin Observation Tower made as an imitation of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

The small replica of the Eiffel Tower was built in 1891 and it’s five times less than the original. For an additional fee you can climb the observation deck placed on top of the tower.

Another amazing attraction is the so called Hunger Wall. It was built by order of Charles IV. According to myth, the purpose of the wall was to employ and thus feed the city’s poor during the severe famine.
